VRI is versatile and can be used in various settings, whether the hearing and deaf participants are in the same location or connecting remotely.
All you need is a laptop and a high-speed internet connection. VRI is as simple as opening a web browser. Our affordable VRI solution is available on demand, enabling real-time communication for one-on-one appointments, interview sessions, team meetings, and more.
A Certified Deaf Interpreter is a deaf or hard of hearing person who has a deep understanding of interpreting, deafness, and Deaf culture. They are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and receive extensive training in using gestures, drawings, visual aids, and mime. These skills help them understand and convey messages clearly, no matter what type of sign language the deaf person uses.
CDIs work alongside hearing sign language interpreters. When a CDI is involved, there are usually at least four people in the conversation chain: the CDI, the hearing ASL interpreter, the Deaf person, and you.
Primarily used for live events, Communication Access Realtime Translation involves a stenographer or steno typist transcribing spoken words into text in real-time, which is displayed on a screen. This can be done either in person or remotely. The process is similar to how a court reporter uses specialized equipment to create a manuscript of legal proceedings.
CART services are an essential resource, enabling many Deaf individuals to fully engage in classes, events, meetings, and other activities.

If you deal with at least one Deaf individual, you are legally required to provide interpreting services. It’s also beneficial for all organizations to offer general access accommodations, even if they are not needed.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prevents discrimination against people with disabilities in places like jobs, schools, transportation, and places open to the public. The ADA guarantees inclusion and protection for those with disabilities and sets guidelines for accommodating them.
